Eric Pérez
Mexico City, 1972

Plastic artist. His training as a painter has been largely self-taught. He chose this practice as an appropriate way to create worlds, to seek depth using imagination and try to exert a subtle but unmistakable resistance to standardization and the art world. In his work, memory plays a fundamental role as a mechanism that amalgamates mental experiences, dreams and fictions. His paintings are contemporary dogmatism disclaim whose hegemony has not gone away and that he considers redundant exhausted and languages and traditional media, and on the other hand are a formalist conception of painting. He has focused as well on the representation of special moments and fleeting communion with nature and its forces, developing a personal system of symbolic representation consisting of mental images that feed on memories, readings, dreams and fictions.
